Challenges:.
Image The current challenges to the auto industry are a gauntlet thrown down for capable management teams to pick up. More than ever, it is now critical to install lean processes and to eliminate waste in automation too. Often in automated equipment environments, continuous improvement is associated only with increased capacity. The real Lean opportunity beyond OEE is not appreciated. robmax is sounding the alarm for deep dives into major process improvement by creating the opportunity to „see“ in graphic form for the first time what robots can tell us about that opportunity.

Our goal is thus to define the optimal algorithm for an automated cell, line, or plant in terms of its operating model. Other considerations like process robustness, product mix, loading etc. are included to ensure continuous operation at optimal levels, thus moving beyond mere OEE measures to a holistic and highly flexible solution based on real time data.

Process optimization is needed when…

demand increases
  • robmax can boost throughput without additional workforce and investment (and as hedge against demand slowing down)

demand decreases
  • robmax can reduce workforce by maximum utilization of equipment (reduce cycle time and decrease workforce)

flexibility is needed
  • robmax can support product consolidation in or between plants if required (plant to plant swing flexibility) or model mix ratio changes

equipment availability shortfalls
  • robmax can reduce cycle time to achieve more time for preventive maintenance
